SYNOPSIS

The Beach is a 2000 adventure drama film directed by Danny Boyle, from a screenplay by John Hodge, based on the 1996 novel by Alex Garland. A British–American co-production, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton, Virginie Ledoyen, Guillaume Canet, and Robert Carlyle. The plot centers on a young American backpacker and a French couple who discover a colony of people living on an uninhabited island and contend with the local dangers there. It was filmed on the Thai island of Ko Phi Phi Le. The film was released on 11 February 2000 by 20th Century Fox.
