Drawing from the nonlinear nature of the canon of Karelian oral folklore, "Tytti” is a patchwork in shortfilm form, embodying the transnationalism and diversity of contemporary experiences and contexts within our community. Its focus is on the concrete concept of tytit, or dolls, and the conceptual concept of tyttiys, or dollness. Belonging to a stateless nation may at times feel like you aren't in control of yourself, that you're more of an object than a human being - a doll. Despite this Karelians and Karelianness constantly find new ways of being.
